Bollywood Calling!
I am in Mumbai and its exciting 3 days ahead. The reason? I am going to meet Bollywood producers. Not because I have a great story written, but guess what, I am part of a Spanish delegation that is visiting Mumbai. My colleague Juan is coming down from Madrid and I am here to help him out. We are meeting guys from Rajshri, Mukta, Big, Zoom, etc, etc. I had this dream that we visit some Bollywood production house and a director comes in with a story. He looks at me and claims that I am the face he was looking for!
Today was day one at the conference. Just a briefing for an hour. Juan has still not arrived and went in instead of him. Infact, Juan is reaching tomorrow early morning. The Spanish representative for trade and commerce in India explained how to deal with Indians and I was the only Indian around.
I have had a lot of people asking me what I exactly do and this is one question for which even I don’t have a correct answer. I was telling Khaddu that I work with online ad formats for video ads. That sounds great and most people don’t understand. What we are going to do here in Mumbai is to strike deals with Indian production houses to take their content online and give them presence in the European and Latin American markets. Bollywood is big time there and if I put it in Juan’s words. Bollywood is about a lot of people who are laughing and dancing and remain always cheerful. No wonder, when asked to choose videos for some of our ad samples to present in India, Juan chose 2 videos from the same movie. No prizes for guessing. ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’
In the last two days, I ve eaten more than 10 Vada Pavs. I met Apoorva today at PVR Juhu and ate some good parathas at the Vile Parle station. Thats mostly it. Have to wake up tomorrow, get dressed up really well (I ve brought two pairs of suits) and leave for the Hyatt.
